Our Company

This is a story of the Great American Dream. A man has a vision to begin a company supplying a reliable product needed by consumers. His wife joins him in the early days of the venture and works alongside as the business grows and prospers. The vision grows as the man sees more needs and expands his offerings to meet the demand, resulting in a company that dwarfs the original idea. Vision does that.

In a nutshell, the American dream is the life of Harry Moss and Moss Supply Company. The dream started to take shape in 1954, as Mr. Harry C. Moss, Jr. and his wife, Nita, began a modest seasonal business supplying aluminum screens to families needing to replace worn-out wooden ones. Within two years, the product was offered to lumberyards and building supply dealers. In 1968, the company expanded products to include aluminum windows and patio doors. By the early 1980’s, Moss became one of the first in the Southeast to offer vinyl windows. When Mr. Moss died in 2002, he left a company on the verge of another spurt into the 21st Century.

Early in 2011, Moss expanded its offerings again with the most versatile window platform available. The Series 6000/6300 is offered in single and double hung models, and in new construction and replacement versions. This rugged, beveled beauty with welded frame construction can be adapted for use in impact zones at an affordable price.

In March, 2011, Robert E. Moss, CEO, announced the appointment of Ralph Wearsch as President of Moss Supply. Wearsch joins Greg Smith, CPA, who is CFO, as the senior leadership team taking the company to a new level.

Now 57 years old and still growing, Moss Supply Company has continued to build on a reputation of quality products sold at competitive price levels and delivered within a reasonable length of time. The current product line includes the industry pioneer Carolina Series 1736, and its younger brother, the Georgian Series 1836, both designed and built to comply with current Energy Star® standards.

A full line of high-performance replacement windows fills out the product offerings. From the knock-out good looking AshlandTM Series 4300 single hung to the industry-envied LexingtonTM Series 4500, Moss truly has a window for every home and light commercial application.

Moss has added manufacturing and distribution beyond its original plant in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ashland, Virginia is the home of replacement window specialists.

Part of the American dream is the growth which follows success. What have not changed are the basic principles passed down from father to son. Treating employees and customers well, always dealing with honesty and integrity, and giving employees the opportunity to earn a good living by working hard as a team are still the guiding principles of Moss Supply Company today.

If you were to visit the main plant on Graham Street in Charlotte, for instance, you would be greeted by a large number of employees who have been part of the Moss enterprise for over 30 years. This core of quality individuals, who take great pride in what they do for Moss, join hundreds of colleagues who are part of manufacturing and distribution to express their appreciation for the loyalty of dealers, builders, and remodelers for these past 57 years, and simply say, “Thank you for choosing Moss.”
